Blaan Tagalog Translator ("the App") is a mobile translation application designed to help users translate between the Blaan indigenous language and Tagalog. Our mission is to help preserve and promote the Blaan language.
This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information when you use the App. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

App Permissions What your device access is used for
- Microphone — Required for the speech-to-text feature. Audio is recorded only while you are actively using the voice input button. Recordings are sent to ElevenLabs for transcription and are not stored beyond the immediate request.
- Internet Access — Required to communicate with the translation service and ElevenLabs API to process voice input and text-to-speech output.
- Storage (local) — Used only to save translation history and app preferences on your own device. No files are shared externally.
Third-Party Services External services the App interacts with
The App uses the following third-party services for specific features:
- ElevenLabs API — Used for voice synthesis (text-to-speech) and speech recognition (speech-to-text). Audio data sent to ElevenLabs is subject to their own Privacy Policy. We do not retain audio data after the API call completes.
- Google Fonts — This privacy policy page loads fonts from Google's CDN (web only, not inside the app).
Data Retention & Deletion How long we keep your data and how to delete it
- Translation history is stored locally on your device indefinitely until you delete it using the "Delete All History" feature within the App, or until you uninstall the App.
- Audio recordings are temporary. They are deleted from your device automatically after the voice input session ends.
- We hold no data on our servers about individual users. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
Children's Privacy Use by users under 13
The App is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since we do not collect accounts, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information from any user, no special data is collected from children.
The App requires microphone access for voice features. If a child uses the App, parents and guardians should be aware that voice audio may be processed by ElevenLabs. Please review their privacy policy if this is a concern.

Data Security How we protect your information
- All API communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption to protect data in transit.
- Translation history is stored in a local encrypted database (Hive) on your device.
- We do not maintain user accounts, passwords, or centralized user databases.
- Since data is stored locally on your device, its security depends on your device's own security (e.g., screen lock, device encryption).
Your Rights Control over your data
Because we do not collect or store personal data on external servers, most data rights are exercised directly through the App or your device:
- Access & Review — View your translation history directly in the App.
- Deletion — Delete all history from the App's History panel at any time.
- Full removal — Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
- Microphone revocation — You can revoke microphone access at any time through your device's Settings → Apps → Blaan Tagalog Translator → Permissions.
Changes to This Policy How you will be informed of updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
